Pumpkins, Black Cats, and New Posters, Oh My!

As we fall into pumpkin season, warmer clothes, open enrollment, and year-end business tasks, we can often miss Federal/State poster changes. One change to be aware of is the new poster requirement that was released on October 19 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) regarding the “Know Your Rights” poster. The new poster clarifies and asserts the recent Title VII Act change that sex discrimination includes discrimination based on pregnancy and related conditions, sexual orientation, or gender identity. It also includes a QR code that employees can scan and obtain instructions for filing an EEOC charge. Here is the updated poster for you to download:

Along with the Know Your Rights poster change, don’t forget the changes that generally happen around the first of the year in some states, such as minimum wage changes. That means if you are in a state with a change to the minimum wage, that poster needs to be updated as well.

With all the changes, now is a good time to review the posters, confirm which ones need updating, and make those changes as needed. As a good reminder, employers must display the poster at their work sites where notices to applicants and employees are customarily posted.

If you have any questions about which posters, you should have displayed, reach out to OmniaHR today.
